I know we’ve all just returned from the St. George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle, and we may be a bit jet lagged to read a long blog post today. However, like everyone else, I too couldn’t help but think about and as a result write on the topic of LOVE.

Maybe it was the emotional ceremony, which captivated nations as vows were exchanged OR the carriage procession through Windsor transporting a modern-day, biracial princess representing a fairytale come true, which led to today’s blog post, but either way, I think this topic is definitely one worth reading about.

So don’t stop now…

You see, I woke up today and realized that waking up way too early in the morning to view the televised version of Harry and Meghan’s nuptials is not the only opportunity anyone should have to be a part of a royal event.

Because you too are royal!

Yes, even you!

Now I know what you’re thinking…

“What crap are you talking about? I am not remotely related to anyone associated with the royal family. Heck, I’ve never even been to the UK.”

Well, I’m here to let you know (more like share the good news) that like me, your daddy above is a King, and that my brother/sister automatically makes you ROYALTY.

And so today, consider this blog post your official invitation to the royal ball.

shut up princess

I think it’s safe to say we all desire to experience romantic love. And, throughout my blog, you’ll realize that I write excessively on the topic of Self-love. But, there’s another type of love that surpasses all others. This type of love is called Agape.

Now, agape speaks of the most powerful, noblest type of love.

The Greek word agape is often translated “love” in the New Testament. Agape is used to describe the love that is of and from God, whose very nature is love itself: “God is love” (1 John 4:8).

And today this is the type of love you can experience at your very own royal ball.

Today, I want you to know that, despite everything you’ve been through – love lost, heartbreak, lust disguised as love, unrequited love, or yet to love – this is the true type of love God has for you. This is the type of love that God has for all His people.

Now let us imagine, that the theme for today’s ball is…

Believe in your own fairytale

What makes it even better is God has also asked…

“Will you be my date to the ball?”

Now, before you answer, you should ask yourself…

“Who else but God is better equipped to chaperon me (lead me, guide me, walk with me, and help me) as I journey through life?”

“Who else can take me as I am (broken, confused, defeated or even conceited) without judgment yet look at me as though my rightful place should always be in a castle?”

Now, I hope your answer is definitely YES!

Before you get ready, there’s a strict dress code and it can be found in the Holy Bible. It includes (and feel free to read up on these some more when you’ve finished reading this post. I highly encourage it…)

(i) The belt or girdle of Truth…

-Being completely truthful with ourselves helps us on our journey.

Knowing God’s truth will be the antidote to any enemy that tries to deceive you.

(ii) The breastplate of righteousness…

-Without righteousness we leave ourselves open to Satan’s attacks.

To be righteous means to repent of our sins then do what is right in God’s eyes.

(iii) The shield of faith…

-To have faith means to believe that everything God does is for our good.

Faith protects and gives us strength.

(iv) The helmet of salvation…

-Salvation means we can be saved despite everything we’ve been through or done wrong.

(v) The sword of the spirit…

This is the word of God. Now I know you’ve probably had your suspicions about the bible, but the truth is, most of us haven’t even given it a try (yet we believe the myths that comes out of others mouths). So why not try it for yourself. Reading is powerful. And so is the love of God.

(vi) Shoes of preparation…

-To be prepared and ready to spread God’s word.

With this one, you’ll also be ready for your new journey ahead.

Now that you’re dressed and you’ve accepted your date, all you have left to do is arrive.

In order to enter this ball, however, you have to let go of all of your past hurts.

You will need to leave your worries, troubles and disappointments at the door before you enter the ballroom.

Like me, every trial/struggle I write about, I’ve had to let go of in order to graduate to the next phase of my life. You will need to do the same, but trust me it’s worth it.

As you enter the castle, I want for you to think of nothing else but being in the moment.

Know that this day should not be taken for granted because it will be your most memorable one yet. It’s like (Cinderella but 10000% better) because having a night out with the King will be the greatest thing that could ever happen to you. At least that’s how I felt.

In other words, coming to the understanding that the greatest relationship, the truest love, the best place you can ever be is in communion with God, is one of the greatest gifts you can ever give to yourself.

Now, don’t get me wrong, this invitation is open for all, but not everyone is going to take it. In fact, some of you may be reading this right now and wondering what kind of cray-cray blogger (with a huge imagination) is this?

But whether you compare it to a night at a royal ball, or just directly as knees bent, heart broken and words as honest as can be, what I want you to get from today’s post is that it really doesn’t matter who you are, or what you’ve been through, you too can and deserve to have a relationship with the one true King. A relationship that I promise you will be worth more than 10,000 royal weddings.

Now, those who don’t believe in their fairytale (that their dreams can really come true/that their goals are too big to achieve) and even those who may not believe that God is even real, may not understand today’s post. And that’s totally okay.

But for those who are willing to give way to their imagination and more importantly give God, our father a chance (c’mon what’s there to lose? Be honest with yourself, has anything else or anyone else in life been working for you? Why not give Jesus a chance. I promise you won’t regret it.)

And when you do… You’ll come into contact with Love itself.

Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, God loves us perfectly. Even when we didn’t know how to love ourselves, God first loved us.

And so today I write to remind you that the best way to find love is to find God. This is the type of love that will never break your heart (like others have done in the past). This type of love is not something you have to go searching (which you have been guilty of doing for quite some time) nor can this type of love die.

Fortunately, this is the agape love that God wants you to feel as He takes your hand and never leaves your side (throughout the ball and for the rest of your life.)

Now, I know you’re probably still wondering why do you have to go through all of this?

You‘re probably not even the type that was ever into fairytales, didn’t care to watch the royal wedding, heck you weren’t even interested in attending your own high school prom.

However, I want to reassure you, that you’re here on this journey of imaginary royal balls with me because you too deserve to be treated as royalty, as worthy and to be rewarded for all that you’ve been through and continue to go through in life.

I know it’s not easy, but like the joy experienced at balls, a life with the ultimate King is about experiencing joy after you’ve been through sorrow.

It’s about having a new day one after the last one hundred days and one hundred attempts at things failed.

I want you to take everything you’ve gained from life’s messes thus far and go create new memories (placing God at the center of it all).

Create as many passionate, happy moments as possible.

Don’t let anyone stop you from doing the things you love, not even yourself.

I want you to no longer be afraid to do the things that make your heart beat faster and your eyes glow when you talk about it.

No matter how unattainable, elusive or difficult your dream may appear to be, I want you to always go after it.

In the midst of things, you will learn about yourself, you will grow, and you will determine what works for you and what doesn’t. You will curate your own dreams, you will gain clarity and you will figure out how to accomplish your own version of a fairytale once you trust the Lord with your dreams.

More importantly, I want you to never ever settle and never ever let go of God’s hands during this dance called life.

I know you may be scared. Though you’ve almost come to the end of this post and possibly related to my analogies, you’re still a bit hesitant.

You know that though it has been motivating, the minute you close this page, you will have to go right back to your life and deal with your storms.

I understand.

But, deep down inside I also know that you want a change. I think that you want to give your dreams a try again. I think you’ve learnt some new things and you want to start applying it to your life and even to some situations that differ to mine, to see if it will work there too. My advice to you is, go for it.

I want you to know that God often orchestrates events behind the scenes, that you may not be able to see right now. But, if you lay your life in his hands, just like you took His hand to dance, He will turn everything around for you.

He will show you the new route you have to take in order to make your dreams come true. He will give you the keys you need to unlock your gifts. He will direct the steps you need to take in order to overcome your current situations. He will help you in every area of your life. All you have to do is give Him your hand.

I want you to imagine this night with the King as your final walk. The time has come for you to graduate, elevate and move on from your current state.

For some of you, it may be time to move to a new city, get a new job, buy a new car, have a new look, give a new relationship a try, meet new people, and give yourself a break from all the things you’ve been taking on; things that are beginning to make you spread yourself too thin.

For others, it may be time to let your guard down, no more lies, no more secrets, no more what if’s. No more sitting and waiting for inspiration. It is time to go look for it – whatever that ‘it’ is for you.

It may even be time to forgive someone from your past who has hurt you and build something new with them. Whatever it may be, the time has come now for you to spread your wings and fly. Now thinking about it, I’m actually excited for you to finish reading because I know that you are about to embark on a whole new journey in life.

As your royal ball comes to an end, know that your life with the King has now begun, and like the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with God, your tomorrows will forever be happily ever after too!
