Today’s blog post is a bit late…
Didn’t we just speak about delaying on the ‘Procrastination’ post last week Kay?
We sure did, but I promise this delay was for good reason!
Your girl has been out here ferociously pursuing her dreams and today’s events have definitely inspired this blog post. Today’s blog post is entitled ‘It’s Already Yours.’
But ‘what’ is?
That dream of yours of course!
You see, I’ve been having a difficult and hectic week – to say the least – and had my fair share of tears (who hasn’t?) But through my storm, God made a way for me today that truly refueled my spirits and I’m here to share a word of advice for anyone needing and willing to receive it. My word today is ‘This is your life and it has been waiting on you to discover it.’
I repeat: This is YOUR life and it has been waiting on YOU to discover it!
You see, we do not need permission to be amazing.
You don’t need someone to tell you, “You can do it!”
And, you don’t even need to read a blog post to encourage you to go after the things that God has already ordained for you (or maybe you do, so keep reading.)
Here you are sitting at home feeling despondent, yet there are so many things that God is waiting for you to do.
There is a new job post, a wedding band, a friend, a new home, a new work space, a new car, and even a new city with your name on it. But, you’ll NEVER receive it if you don’t get up and go after it… if you don’t build the courage to ferociously pursue what is rightfully yours.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that, “whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising, which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage”.
And something tells me that you’ve been dealing with a lot of difficulties along your way (especially in recent times). However, instead of looking back and focusing on all the negative, I want you to take a look at how far you’ve come.
Take a minute to think about it. You have come a long way, haven’t you?
You’ve already begun to weather storms.
How do I know?
Because you’re still standing despite all you’ve been through.
So, how about taking that next step?
Now is the perfect time to map out how we’re going to get to the finish line… and I am here to journey with you.
On one end, time has already begun to heal you from the things you’ve gone through in the past. However, what I’ve learnt is that it’s not always good to hold on to those things.
If you do, they will only prevent you from moving to greater things in life.
Instead, I need you to know that pain is the birth of wisdom. The past hurdles are exactly where they belong, in the past. Now is the time to take charge of your own life because your destiny awaits you.
Today is a new day.
Ask yourself what do you really want? Let’s take it a step further and actually sit down and write it out on a piece of paper. (Yes, that’s my solution to everything – writing it down – it works. Try it!)
But here’s the trick to it. You have to write everything down in the present tense – as if it’s already yours!
Write it as if you have already accomplished it and presently enjoying the benefits.
Here’s my notes….
“I am a New York Times Best Selling Author”
“I am the leading news anchor”
“I am in love”
“I am happy”
“I am at peace”
“I am the strongest version of myself”
“I am living a life that pleases God”
“I am helping others”
These are some of my declarations. What are yours? Remember there aren’t any limits. You can have, be and do anything you set your mind to.
I wish you would start believing in yourself once again because only you can unlock your hidden potential. I wish you would be faithful to that which already exists within you.
Sometimes, we do not take the time to look on the inside and it is there that holds the key and true essence of an individual. Within you, you will find your fairytale.
Please do not be afraid to give yourself everything you’ve ever really wanted. I know how much damage fear can do. Fear can be terrifying and crippling even. Fear can lead you to build up worries about things that have the least probability of even occurring. Fear threatens to stop you dead in your tracks. Fear, if misused, as is often the case, stifles growth and surely leads to limited progression. Then the realization that you’re stuck leads to depression. Before you know it, you have successfully snowballed yourself into a state of hopelessness. Now you think you’ve reached a point of no return.
Lao Tzu said, “There is no illusion greater than fear”. So you must know that that is all fear is, just an illusion.
Les Brown went even further to say, that sadly, “too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears”. I don’t want that to be you. One of the aims of this blog is to encourage you to never give up. Even at your lowest low, or so it feels for the moment, I am here to beg of you not to give up. Life forces us to face our greatest fear and then dares us to find the strength to continue living.
We have to continue because we all have a greater purpose. What joy it is to know that everything we desire, is already ours. We just have to get through a few (ok maybe a lot) of obstacles that life presents to us along the way.
Fear, disappointment, low self-esteem, depression, and heartbreak are all part of the process. But you can’t let any of it make you stop now. You need to endure and finish the race. Sometimes it’s not even our opponents that prevent us from winning the race. Sometimes, we scare ourselves into our own failures. And sometimes, you have to fight even yourself for your dreams. Don’t get me wrong though, I understand the fear. I understand that burning question, what if I don’t succeed? But let me ask you another question, what if you do?
One day I made the decision not to allow fear to ever rule me again. I insisted that fear will not incapacitate me. My fear shall no longer force me to cower in a corner and call it quits. And it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made to date.
Instead, fear shall be used as a motivator. Fear now indicates that I am attempting to step outside my comfort zone, thus, opening my mind to explore newer options. This is how you need to start to look at things.
When life gives you lemons, you have to find a way to make lemonade. Yes I know that’s as cliché as it comes, but it is true. Somehow, you have to give yourself that pep talk and get right back up and go after what’s yours.
If nothing else at all, this is what I want you to gather from today’s post:
Claim what’s yours!
The reason why those big dreams never left you is because it is part of your destiny.
You must stop ‘hoping’ and ‘wishing’ and finally do what it takes to get it.
Sometimes what you’re most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.
There is so much within you waiting to be released. And no one else can fulfill your purpose but YOU. I pray you do us all a favor and share yourself with the world. This is how change begins. YOU have what it takes, and God has all you desire! Go after it! What are you waiting on?
