Freedom

BUJU is free!

I repeat: Buju is free!

Why is this important?

Because freedom is everything. Because freedom takes patience and because many of us have experienced one form of captivity or the other in life before.

Today’s blog is therefore entitled FREEDOM.

What is freedom you may ask?

Freedom is the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

And though none of you may have physically been put behind bars for breaking any laws before, I think we can all agree to having felt trapped, chained or unable to break through in many of our careers, relationships or even how we plan our lives to be.

Would you agree?

How does one gain freedom?

I’ve learnt – the hard way – that though life brings many hardships, God will always make a way for us if we wait on him.

In other words, to answer the question, gaining freedom requires patience.

I almost did not post a blog today because I had many other engagements that required my full attention. And so at last minute, I decided to write about freedom.

However, as I write this, I have no doubt now that God placed it in my heart to tell you that though you’ve been facing some troubles lately, I do not want you to give up. Instead, now is the time for you to ask God to increase your patience.

It’s ironic, because patience has never been my forte – and I mean NEVER.

However, as I look back on all the things I’ve been through, I realize now that I wouldn’t have been able to be in the position (to receive all the blessings I’m currently receiving) if I didn’t have patience.

The bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6

What this tells us is that we shouldn’t try to rush things in life. Neither should we give up when we think things are taking way too long to happen – the way we plan it.

I’ve tried to take matters into my own hands many times before, only to end up more disappointed than ever. I had a specific timeline for how I wanted my life to go. I had a set age to get my degree, get married, obtain my dream job and to have babies.

When I realized life was not going the way I planned, I tried to rush it, and was totally confused and depressed when I got no breakthrough.

I would often ask God in frustration, why isn’t this or that happening for me, can’t you see I’m getting older? As though God needed reminding of my age.

However, the more I tried to rush things, the more trapped I felt. It was as though I was behind my own bars, and every time I acted out, I would just get my appeal revoked and bail denied.

Can you relate?

Are there things in your life that you’ve become beyond impatient about?

Do you feel stuck?

Do you feel trapped or imprisoned in your current job or relationship? Or maybe both?

It happens to the best of us my friend.

Do not give up.

Hold on.

This mountain may just require you to take one more climb or you may need to be patient for a bit longer, however, in the meantime, I will encourage you to seek God’s counsel and I promise once you trust His timing, your freedom is sure.

For God can break every chain in your life.

The blessings that he can give to you, once you hold on to him, will far exceed the pain, stress, drama, depression, confusion, or stagnation you’ve been facing behind your mental bars.

I really enjoyed reading this. As I read this a got a revelation that some of us are imprisoned by shame or even by the mould society expects us to fit into. However, each of us is different and we each have our own journey and life stories. We need to allow ourselves to fly free, fly high and be our own best selves without feeling pressured to live up to anyone’s standards. Again, great read as usual Kaymarie👍
