Not your average end of year blog…

Dear Kay-Marie,

This list isn’t my usual ‘get excited and plan to the extreme’ type of list.

This year of 2018 is all about being intentional and to stay accountable.

It’s about offering my year up to God as a sacrifice and as a seed.

It is about having faith that He will deliver.

I’ve also accepted that by this time next year my list may look slightly different but that’s no longer a bad thing.

I’d like to think of it more like a face-lift.

God has a funny way of responding to our plans so this time around I’m eager to see all

the things I don’t accomplish (that God either protected me from or said not yet) and all

of the things He added because His plans are always better.

I‘m taking these final hours of 2017 to do what I do best – write – and mentally prepare

myself for what’s ahead, for all that‘s waiting for me when I step outside.

And trust me, it’s going to blow your mind!

See you next year,

Love Kay

Written: Dec 31st 2017 – notes – iphone – 11 p.m

I remember December 31st 2017 as though it were yesterday.

Everyone and their neighbors kept declaring “how great” of a year it was.

I remained quiet.

With that year came more weddings, baby showers, engagements, travels and so on than I’d ever witnessed before.

I was happy to share in everyone else’s victories.

I mean, if you know me well, you’ll know that I love love and I love when my friends and family’s career goals an dreams come to reality.

But, all of these things weren’t quite my reality.

You see, I wasn’t even sad to see 2017 go.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t bitter because I didn’t have much things to post about or victories to praise.

From the beginning, I just knew it wasn’t “my year” to gain much.

Maybe because 2016 messed me up real badly.

Regardless, with the little voice of hope in my head, I just knew that 2017 would become my year to let go.

In hindsight,  2017 was my year of detoxication, spiritual solitude and a time when I had to remain patient and empty myself in order to make room.

To make room for the good in life, for love, for compassion, forgiveness, self value and God’s voice.

Oh, but 2018 though.

2018 was my year of harvest.

It was my year to receive all the things I had sown in years prior.

In 2018, God took me from the back of the line and placed me to the front.

He took me from my low-key living and gave me a platform.

The friends I lost were replaced with a smaller but rightful tribe.

The heart that was broken time after time gained a love which made it forget it had ever been shattered.

And the rejections of my past finally made sense as success began to take over.

Oh Kay-Marie, if you could only see it now.

2018 will be a year of transformation.

But I’m going to need you to do one thing for me.

This year isn’t about setting the usual ‘New Year Resolution’.

This year it’s all about INTENTION.

You’re not going to achieve EVERY SINGLE THING on your LIFE’s WISH LIST just yet, but you’re definitely going to walk into your season of purpose.

Dear Kay-Marie, I know it seems crazy  now that I’m writing our future self but one day (365 days from now) I want you to look back at this letter.

The one that you’re writing from your bedside, after you’ve shed all those 2017 tears, not knowing how the heck you’re going to achieve anything, no plan in sight (and you’re usually a girl with a plan) and laugh.

In fact, if you ever stop procrastinating and get your blog back up, I want you to post this too.

Look back and remember that I told you first – you’re going to get the job of your dreams (even though you’re unemployed now). You’re going to find the man of your dreams (even though you’ve kissed some frogs). Your book is going to become a #1 NYT Best seller (even though you don’t even have a book deal or an agent yet). And you’re going to be a vegan – ok, are we pushing it now?

You’re going to achieve these things, and so much more, but only if your goal for 2018 is to live intentionally.

See you next year and congrats in advance

Kay-Marie 2018!
